"For me, a world with only you is enough."
Two weeks ago, Nelli sent her long-term boyfriend, Raku, the following text: "I'm breaking up with you." She has been successfully avoiding him ever since...until her bike chain breaks. He helps her, but now she's trapped in a forest with only her broken bike, a cellphone with no reception, and her slightly creepy ex-boyfriend for company. He wants to talk, and one thing is clear: he really doesn't want to break up. (He probably won't take no for an answer.)
The prequel to Karamu, Kanau, is officially out! It's meant to be played after playing Karamu. You can check out the next game here!

I mean the ending where he reveals himself to be a spider is kind of the ideal end isn't it? She didn't wanna break up with him in the first place and only did it to protect him and now they're back together and she gets to get away with the murder. Also I'm scared of spiders but he's really cute

Idk i cant remember which i think i was trying to download the kid at the back mobile cuz i was desperate and then i installed the game it said it might contain a virus i didnt care so i just installed it anyways and i saw your game instead i was curious so i played and it was pretty good so i came here to download it for a safer version but now i have a laptop so i can download visual novels without pirating them so im happy and oh i think its gone now cuz i cant find the link anymore and yeah it was a virus after i opened the game i kept getting virus alerts๐ญ

This has taken over my life after playing Kanau its just great to look at the characters through the lens from that game. Them both wanting the best for each other. As off a neili can come off at first she cares so much for him even when you choose the meaner options. These are people who love each other and because they love each other they take actions that clash i cant wait for the third game!!!!

I'm in love with this VN! It was the perfect length for all endings, a hint of sweet, disturbing, and mystery. I hope there's a sequel of either the past or future. Or both.

It's around the same length as Karamu, but it's kinetic, with no choices.
And the sequel, Hanasu, will be out sometime this fall/winter (fingers crossed!) That one will be quite a bit longer than Karamu (around 5-6 times as long?) and will have six endings!

crazy game ... i loved everything about it omg - the art, dialogues, characters, voice acting, plot, nuances in the relationship. i could not bring myself to hate nellie or raku and i liked that a lot. the complexity makes it so real. would love to try out more games from you! onto the prequel <3

this game was absolutely amazing, the story plot and the characters. Though when I first played, I didn't enjoy how mean the mc was acting. I totally understand why but she seemed so harsh at first, but her reasoning became clear of course. Though I can say that, they knew each other before they were adults right? Or well it seems like they did. Considering how raku talks about her.

OF COURSE! I honestly think you deserve more attention. It's clear how much you care about giving the characters a personality and depths to their story. I actually even made a little video about this game, I posted like a clip of raku (he's such a cutie). I also noticed that you had that game that like introduced them, and I honestly was going to play it because I was like I want to know more about their past!! I also felt like when he said she even like cared for the insects that It seemed it was like "she won't find me gross" but I really enjoyed this game ^^ and I hope to play many more games in the future by you! I don't understand the mc's reason to break up. It makes no sense.
I mean; It makes even less sense than usual in these games. oO
Not that I am good at understanding human behavior, however much I study it.
I feel there is so much information missing in the intro that it leaves my head spinning. The mc acts completely unreasonable towards her ex, in every way.
The game hints at something we don't know, so I'll withhold my judgement on that. But I don't understand -anything- she does.
He's being nothing but nice and loving.
Why is she overreacting so much? And over nothing at all?
Does she suffer from paranoia? Or some other mental illness?
The game is really well-made.
Both the writing and the art is very good.
But the main character acts really effing weird, over absolutely nothing.
I'm going to guess she has some kind of mental problem, or something happened with her ex that we don't know about or something.
But she's behaving stranger than I am used to an mc behaving.
And I'm pretty sure it's not just because human emotions eludes me this time.
I AM curious about what is going on tho.
As far as a 'hook' scene goes, this was excellent writing.
LOL it's interesting reading your play-by-play impressions... ๐ I am glad that you got the overall impression that I wanted and thought it was a good hook ("why is Nelli acting like this, what is going on, and why is she being so mean to her bf, who is nothing but nice to her? And certainly not just because she's a tsun...") ๐คญ I hope you find the endings interesting!
And thank you for your compliments on the writing and art ๐ญ this was my second game that I released and my first game that was properly finished, and I wasn't really that confident at the time ๐ฆ (I have gained a bit of confidence since then and I think I've improved a bit as a dev! ๐ช Hopefully LOL)
While I normally prefer the games where I can insert myself rather than a pre-named mc, your game is good enough that I'm willing to invest in a character that is not me.
(I know, I'm super-lazy. I don't even read books without first reading a spoiler-heavy summary because most of them ends shitty in my opinion.
Visual Novels are no different --especially the big pro ones.
I've bought a million games that promise a villain love-interest, only to find he's just a sad kid who wants to do good thing but the world makes him seem more cruel than he is, OR he's got some kind of dumb-ass reason for killing people that totally justify it, making him an anti-hero, not a villain. Even more sadly, the first version is by far the most common and the second hard to find. >_>
I keep hoping to see a true villain, but the games who features the kind of guy (or girl) I like are pretty much all unfinished games, and most doesn't seem to ever update.
I'm so tired of investing in new stories only to be disappointed at the end. *sigh*)
As far as I can tell, your story doesn't promise things it's unlikely to deliver on at least.
(I played the other game in the triology just now. The choice-less demo at any rate.
The story is interesting. The lack of choices a bit disappointing tho.)
So it may be worth playing the full game, regardless of how it ends.
Still, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that at least one of the ends is a "bad end" where the guy goes serial killer crazy and the girl goes along with him in a Bonny & Clyde style. ^_^
Probably won't happen, but all the same... It'd be my favorite kind of end. lol

I've been holding off the Steam release since it's a trio of three games total and I need to refactor them into one package for Steam ๐ so the first two games got released here first, but the last installment will be released close to simultaneously!

The game is seriously popular tho.
I used a AI program to find yandere games, and most newer, and smaller, games do not show up because it has zero internet access --so someone took the time to feed the AI info on your game. Which is a good indication it's a good game. Or at least a popular one.
And I know it's a trilogy; Steam says so on my wishlist. lol
I never buy games outside of Steam, but I'll be waiting for the realize of the full game there.
I like to collect all the good games in one place when I can. ^_^
Releasing the games one by one on Steam could actually benefit you more than realising them together.
People who play a game and love it will always want more and more content.
Being able to buy a follow-up / related game with their beloved characters after finishing the first one, even if they have to wait for it to come out, is always going to be common.
I remember the lines for the World of Warcraft expansion packs, even AFTER they started to sell them online, because people wanted the new ones the second they dropped. lol
And I personally always end up buying DCL content for the games I love because I want the story to never end, after I first get the happy ending I want. (Using the word 'happy' loosely here, since I consider a romantic ending far better than any other ending in a yandere game.
Even if that means you end in the hospital horribly broken and the super-nice guy who's never hurt anyone tells you he's going on a killing spree to kill those who did that to you, or like one end in Particles of Reality when Sebastian pulls the plug on you in the hospital and kills himself to join you.
Although it's of course better if you both live and can be together. But not all games allow for such a super-happy ending.
...and that's not despite the fact that the guy is bat-crap crazy, but because of it. lol
I make no guarantees for my sanity. xD
Oh gosh ๐ I am flattered someone took the time! And AHH makes sense, I see! The demo (i.e. the first 2 games) should come on Steam sometime in the next few months (I just need to find the time to put the new build together ๐ )! And ohh yes! Unfortunately Steam charges a $100 fee for every submission, and this trio of games in particular will be free (hmm mainly because it was originally intended to be free, and also because of the content that it deals with, I wouldn't want to charge money for it), so I figured I'd save $200 by submitting them as a trilogy instead of individual titles lolol but I do intend to release some more yan flavor games that will be separate ๐ A couple more early this year, and maybe one later in the fall! All of them will have romantic endings of some flavor or another, but I've been in a tragedy mood, so we'll see how happy they are... I hope that you enjoy when you get to play ๐
Ah, I see. I didn't realize Steam took that kind of commission fee. I always assumed they'd take a percentage of the sales instead.
That would have been a more profitable choice for them in the long run --especially with more popular games.
If you have games that become popular on Steam, maybe you can release DCL content for them rather than a new sequel seperatly?

Oh they do both (so $100 fee plus 30% of the sales). It's a reasonable ask and the $100 prevents the platform from being flooded with spammers, but unfortunately it makes it difficult to justify putting free games on there ๐ I do plan to release some games with DLC ๐ค hopefully it goes well ๐

Well..What can I say..I'm speechless after I finished this masterpiece.I didn't expect this plot twist,not at all.I'm really satisfied with the plot and a little bit of romance and everything,I enjoyed it.I got 2 endings and I'm pretty satisfied with that.Honestly I'm kinda scared to try other ending because I don't know what to expect.I must sayy that I ENJOYED PLAYING THIS GAME AND THAT I LOVE IT.The art is really pretty too.And I also kinda love him,this Rakuo guy,I didn't expect that,to like him that much as I did because I usually don't like all this kinda red flag guys but I kinda fell for him,please don't judge me for that.I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH!thank you for creating it.

A very good game that I highly recommend! I installed it out of curiosity and found myself doing all the routes in one evening just because I was so curious to see what would happen. You don't expect this โendingโ (those who have made it all the way to the end will understand), which makes it possible to understand a whole host of things. There are lots of little details in the descriptions and dialogue and I love rereading them to understand what they refer to. In any case, I had a great time with this game! The illustrations are beautiful, the atmosphere is captivating and I'd love to see a sequel or an update on this game!

i cant begin to express how much i love this trilogy and i haven't even finished the second game yet, had to pause to comment. The psychological aspects, the symbolism, the art style, the animations, the voice acting..oh god the voice acting, the well thought out endings and tutorials. everything is tailored to perfection. i can not wait for the third game!

i can't even properly put it into words but this game has swept me off my feet. the way the story progressed and the plot began to unravel itself was written so well, and every other element in the game adjusted so well to each scenario that really upped that suspense!! don't get me started on that INSANE voice acting. the tone and words used for the dialogue was executed perfectly, with raku sounding so softspoken and loving as he became much more unhinged. this entire game surpassed my expectations since it takes such a long time to come across actually good writing for characters with a yandere complex, and this game did exactly that. i love how our mc isn't a complete saint herself either, and how you really have to think about the morality of each scenario.
i can't rate simply this 10 out of 10 because the scale is an insult to the beauty of the game. props to the creators!!

To be honest, I was looking for something tougher, straight out of the "I'd rather kill you than give you to someone" series, but Raku turned out to be pretty cute, and nevertheless, I liked it. At the beginning of the game, I just wanted to squeeze him, he was so adorable. Just a cutie.

My first ending was the one in which the police came to Nelli. Then I went through all the forks, but nothing changed. It took me a while to realize that the point is that you need to go through to the end, and not start over as soon as you meet a familiar piece of text, that is, that in general the conversation can go according to more or less one scenario, but at the same time the set of answers changes the end. That's a pretty cool idea, by the way.
My second ending was the one where Raku described to Nelli her whole plan in the best traditions of detectives. He was damn hot, especially when he called the smell of blood "delicious".
I don't remember in what order the remaining two endings took place, but the one in which Raku is going to punish Nelli was so cruel because it ended in the most, MOST interesting place, ahah... In general, I was very sorry that the game ended, and I am very glad that a sequel is planned.

Ahah, I had no chance to resist Raku. In fact, yandere is a type of character which is cool to read about, but which is absolutely not cool to have as a partner in real life. Raku is an exception. He loves obsessively, he really is a monster, but you can trust him with anything: your life, your soul, yourself and everything that is dear to your heart. In addition, the relationship with him seems to be as comfortable as possible. Maximally. So yes, I had no chance.
What am I even talking about here, if at times, going through the game, I begged Nelli not to be too strict with him, although initially I treated him rather... I don't know... skeptical, perhaps? I love the creepy and tense atmosphere you build up as you go through the game and the plot twist of the true ending was quite surprising (in a good way). Raku is my favorite type of yandere where he has an established history with MC/Nellie and his yandere-ness feels like a slow unraveling where at the end he becomes fully unhinged instead right from the start. I also love that based on our choices MC is allowed to be morally ambiguous because of the potential for unhinged MC x unhinged ML (one of my favorite tropes). With the added context from Kanau, it is so interesting being able to go back to this game, comb through the dialogue and get a deeper and better understanding of Raku's and Nellie's backgrounds and characterizations. I can't wait for sequel!

OMG I didnโt expect the endings. Talk about a plot twist. I enjoyed the game. I liked how you get a little bit more of the story as you keep getting endings, depending on the order in which you reach each end. I love games that pay attention to detail, and this is one of them. (love the males jacket/hoodie design?) I was excited to find out this game has a origin story. I got it right away.
I like that it was illustrated entirely with live 2d- style animated cgs and comic book style. I love reading comic books, so I enjoyed that extra. I absolutely love the way the female character looked. The way the male character was portrayed was fabulous I'd love a male like that. I mean how could you break up with someone like that even if he is a little yandere. No spoilers so ill stop at that.
It can be helpful the game comes with a walkthrough if you need it. This game was the first I played where you can just click a button and get the walkthrough. More people should make one, especially for the harder games. The voice actors did a great job. I have to say the female has a beautiful voice to me.
My only complaint it was too short. A lot of work went into the making of this so I thank you for that.

I understand the frustration of replaying a game over and over to get the ending that you missed, so I always want to include one for players so that they have the option (and, of course, I want people to experience the entire game!) The sound effects and the voice acting and the bgm with the beautiful visuals all sucked me and transported me into the world you made! I love, love, love the visuals! They are so incredible unique and creative! I teared up a few times playing this game. Raku's voice actor did such an incredibly job of delivering his lines! I really felt the pain and the heartbreak in every single line!
I don't play horror at all but I really enjoyed the creepy atmosphere of this game! I love both characters and gosh I just really loved this game!!!!

Ohhhhhh my goodness. This game was delightfully creepy - I normally don't play horror games, but I had heard such wonderful things about this game that I wanted to give Karamu a shot, and my god, I am so glad I did!!
Nellie is such a unique protagonist in otome land (I can't think of anyone heading off to veterinary school!) and the composition and animation made the game feel like I was flipping through pages of a comic book.
I also want to add that the walkthrough was super helpful, and that you did a fantastic job of capturing that creepy five AM atmosphere! I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time, and also: the arachnophobia warning was honestly a bit of an understatement LMAO, but we persevered!! Thank you for sharing this with us. It was a treat, and I can't wait until I have more time to play the sequel!

You absolutely succeeded in making a horror game fun and creepy without it being overwhelming!! I cannot understate how much I generally avoid horror, and yet Karamu hit a lot of solid narrative notes. The atmosphere helped a lot, I believe; the game was really dynamic with unique animations that drew me into their world, and as someone that used to go on 5am runs, you nailed how quiet the world is at that hour. But mostly, I think it's the lack of jumpscares and assuming your audience needs shock to be horrified? Karamu reminds me of older horror films (like Psycho and other Hitchcock films), where your imagination does a lot of the work, and *that's* the kind of horror a wider audience can get behind, I think.
Nelli was FANTASTIC. While her VA did such a great job at invoking her emotions, I truly wasn't expecting to love her as much as I did. โฅ You've certainly made a fan out of me, lol! I look forward to playing your other games and leaving reviews on them too (and honestly, sharing your games with my friends who DO enjoy horror!! I know that if I'm having a grand time, they'll enjoy it even more)
To be honest I couldn't be too objective while playing this game because Raku is basically just like my ex, and it felt honestly so weird to play a game like this with someone that reminds me that much of him. The break-up is fairly recent so it just makes it even weirder- PLUS, some things are word-for-word texts that he sent me, so it was a surreal experience, ngl, but besides that, I reeeally loved this game!! Some of the endings were particularly hard due to my situation, but I honestly really loved it!! Also, I want to directly thank you for adding a walkthrough inside the game, it made me so honestly happy to see it!!! <33
